About the artists:
Silesian Guitar Octet, the only band of this kind in the world, has been performing since 2001. It was founded by the group of students, graduates and teachers of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice as an experimental band. The first album of the group, entitled OCT.OPUS, was released in 2008. The current album includes pieces of music of the 20th century composers revealing a new image of the octet.
The group received 1st Prize at the International Festival INTER ARTIA 2008. The CD- OCT.OPUS, was nominated to the great Polish Award FRYDERYKI in 2009.
The performance of the band was also recorded by BBC WORLD.
Apart from that, Silesian Guitar Octet has been giving successful concerts in Poland likewise abroad (Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Sweden, Denmark, Greece, Italy and Great Britain).
