"Plug In" brings a portion of dialogues created here and now between two musicians important to the world of improvised music. Alan Silva is one of the legends of the American avant-garde, his collaboration with musicians of such stature as Cecil Taylor ("Unit Structures", "Conquistador!", "It is in the Brewing Luminous"), Sun Ra ("Sun Ra-Featuring Pharoah Sanders and Black Harold", "Nuit de la Fondation Maeght Vol. 1 & Vol. 2", "It's After the End of the World", "Out In Space"), Albert Ayler ("Albert Ayler in Greenwich Village", "Love Cry"), Sunny Murray ("Sunny Murray", "Big Chief", "Hommage to Africa", "Sunshine", "Aigu-Grave", "Firmanence w/ Burton Greene"), Andrew Hill ("Strange Serenade"), Bill Dixon ("Considerations 1", "Bill Dixon In Italy, Volume One & Two", "November 1981"), Jimmy Lyons ("Other Afternoons") or Archie Shepp ("Live at the Pan-African Festival", "Poem for Malcolm") made him a sought-after musician; the Celestrial Communication Orchestra he founded in the early 1970s is considered one of the most important improvising jazz orchestras in the history of the genre.

Since the 1970s, drummer Roger Turner has been a part of the European improvised music scene, collaborating with many artists such as Derek Bailey, Fred Frith, Evan Parker, William Parker, Cecil Taylor, Toshinori Kondo, Otomo Yoshihide, Shelley Hirsch, Joelle Leandre, Keith Rowe, Ab Baars, Barry Guy, Barre Philips, Henry Grimes, Paul Rutherford, Gunter Christmann, Marilyn Crispell, Irene Schweizer, Frederik Rzewski, Phil Minton and Malcolm Goldstein. He has met Alan Silva many times, so their joint project is not a coincidence.
