When I heard the music they recorded several years ago, I asked myself: “What is it?”, “Who is playing this?”, “Who are these people?”. The band’s line-up was different at the time, its mainstays – Gerard Lebik (tenor sax) and Michał Trela (drums) – were accompanied by Jakub Cywiński (double bass). On this album, which records the splendid concert played at “Pardon To Tu” in Warsaw, the ensemble features two double basses (Max Mucha and Jakub Milcarek). Whether in a recording studio or on stage, the musicians are always uncompromising and radical. Quite like in the Hitchcock movies: first comes an earthquake, and then the tension mounts up. The last, soothing piece is a reward for the patient listeners. Surprisingly, this is the first album released by this exquisite band which has been developing, in artistic terms, in parallel with the progress made by its leaders, Trela and Lebik. The rumor has it that the band’s new member is Ksawery Wójciński whose extraordinary musical temperament compels us to say he plays triple rather than double bass. Well, we are going to be really having it!

„Gdy usłyszałem ich nagranie sprzed kilku lat, pomyślałem: „Co to jest?”, „Kto tak gra?”, „Kim oni są?”. Wtedy jeszcze grali w innym składzie, filarom bandu, tj. Gerardowi Lebikowi (saksofon tenorowy) oraz Michałowi Treli (perkusja) towarzyszył wtedy Jakub Cywiński (kontrabas). Na prezentowanym krążku – który zawiera zapis wspaniałego koncertu w stołecznym klubie „Pardon To Tu” – występują w składzie z podwójną sekcją kontrabasów (Max Mucha & Jakub Milcarek). Nie tylko w studio, ale i na scenie są równie bezkompromisowi, radykalni! Jak u Hitchcocka: najpierw trzęsienie ziemi, a później napięcie rośnie. Ale dla cierpliwych kojący ostatni kawałek. Jest to – o dziwo – pierwsza realizacja płytowa tej znakomitej formacji, która rozwija się artystycznie wraz z liderami, Trelą i Lebikiem. Z tego, co wiemy do składu dołączył obecnie Ksawery Wójciński, grający z niezwykłym temperamentem – rzec by można – na… triple-bass’ie. Oj, będzie się działo!
