On this album the atmosphere is also of the darker kind, varying between traditional and slow koto playing and unidentifiable noise, which gradually gains momentum over the various tracks, but then lo and behold suddenly a guitar is actually recognisable, creating ripple effects on the lake of sound that it trickles on, but then noise regains, all in all in a very aesthetic, well-paced flow."

"Kagura jest formą tradycyjnego japońskiego teatru tańca, wywodząca się z rytuałów sintoistycznych, ukształtowana w okresie kultury dworskiej, składająca się z szeregu pieśni oraz tańców rytualnych wykonywanych z akompaniamentem muzycznym na terenie chramów. Ale to również fantastyczny album zarejestrowany w kwintecie - Takuo Tanikawa na gitarze elektrycznej i koto, Jun Kawasaki na basie i perkusji, Sabu Toyozumi i Shota Koyama na perkusjach i perkusjonaliach, oraz Alan Silva na syntezatorze.

Na tej płycie dominują bardzo ciemne barwy wyrastające z tradycji gry na koto, silnie wzmacniane przez narastający powoli, niezidentyfikowany hałas, który stopniowo nabiera tempa. Przecięte to jest następnie mocnym dźwiękiem gitary wyłaniającej się z tej przestrzennej formy. Tworzy ona ostre, mocno zarysowane fale na szeroko rozlanym jeziorze dźwięku, by wkrótce ponownie zlać się w jedno z wciąż narastającym hałasem. Japońskie w estetyce i bardzo wciągające. I dziwnie, majestatycznie piękne. W moim odczuciu."
