®ambo¹i: To se to hraje... (Isn’t It Great to Play...)
The first official album of the Vsetín musical couple ®ambo¹i brings fifteen different songs mostly composed by Jan ®amboch under the title To se to hraje... (Isn’t It Great to Play...). The Vsetín singer and composer Jan ®amboch burst in like a storm onto music stages in 2002 with the project called ®ambo¹i, in which the woman of his life Stanislava Brahová sings. At the same time, music critics and colleagues started to be interested in a young Vsetín forester accompanied by a reputation of a very competent guitar player. The ®ambo¹i songs cannot be strictly classified as folk; it would be more appropriate to speak of folk-jazz. In the debut album, elaborated odd-beat songs alternate with jazz motifs, but also ordinary march with more exotic reggae. Merry texts based on a very sophisticated minute play with words alternate with testimonies, during which a shiver runs down the listeners’ spines. Bezpeèné reggae (Safe Raggae) or Krátká pamì» (Short Memory) reflect the view of contemporary thirty-year-olds of events around us with openness and depth for which the stagnating folk scene had been waiting in vain for long. Singing by Stanislava Brahová and Jan ®amboch is to be heard in the CD as well as on a stage, supported by Jan’s inventive guitar accompaniment. To make the album musically more full-bodied, the ®ambo¹i agreed with the music director Luká¹ ©panihel (Docuku, Soláò) on the participation of guests who in some songs would come to help. Thanks to them the sound of the album is rich, and each song has its own atmosphere built up into the last detail.
