Maria N. Nundwe is most recognized voice of Northern Region of Malawi. She claims that her songs are received from the Holy Spirit in her dreams. These revelations are arranged into forms of electronic beats by producer George Msukwa at Pulikani M-zee Studio placed in a tin-roof shed in Mzuzu. Her music reverberates from every second transport van and every third mp3 selling barber shop.

Local fans call her songs as “deep chiTumbuka”, referring to local language, distinguishing northern Malawi from other parts of the country. “Deepness” means that Maria’s songs are eschatologically treat issues like suffering, salvation, revelation, fundamental moral questions. Even if chiTumbuka language is understood only by minor group, the message from the tone of voice (and the dance) gets a feedback from other Malawians, speaking other local languages.

Maria despite her popularity in the region suffers similar problem as other Malawian artists. Acknowledging that her fans often cannot afford food, she opens her performances, by that lacking any profits from her stage work.

The cover, as in every other 1000HZ releases is also an important point. It was designed by Alwyn Kumwenda from Mzuzu and afterwards visually remixed by contemporary artist Karolina Brzuzan, author of the project 'A Starvation Cookbook' among others.
