Madar (literally an ‘Orbit’) Ensemble is the fruit of the musical friendship between the Palestinian ud player Nizar Rohana and Dutch bassist Tony Overwater. They invited three prominent musicians from the Arab world and the Netherlands: Dutch clarinet player Maarten Ornstein; Tunisian violinist and viola d'amore player Jasser Haj Youssef and the Jordanian percussionist Nasser Salameh. With genuine curiosity for and understanding of each other’s musical language, they have come together with the purpose of creating something new, built on a deeply shared respect for the qualities of their various musical worlds.

Acamar, from the Arabic Akhir an-nahr meaning "the end of the river", is a star located in the constellation Eridanus, variously associated by ancient astronomers with rivers across the Mediterranean and Middle East, including the Nile, Po and Euphrates. The music in this album is inspired by the classical civilizations of Mesopotamia and the Mediterranean which relied in daily life on an understanding of the cosmos.

Między Wschodem a Zachodem. Od Jordanii, Tunezji i Palestyny po Holandię. Dziedzictwo kulturalne tych regionów jest budulcem tej niezwykłej muzycznej opowieści.
Madar Ensemble (Madar z arabskiego to Orbita) przedstawia magiczną muzykę, będącą odtrutką na niszczącą siłę współczesnej stechnicyzowanej kultury. Pięciu muzyków reprezentujących odmienne kultury, na płycie "Acamar" (z arabskiego "koniec rzeki") wchodzi w odważny, głęboki dialog. Na płycie usłyszymy Oud - arabską lutnię, Violę d'amore - altówkę miłosną, klarnet, kontrabas wymiennie z Violą da Gamba i zestaw perkusjonaliów z bębnem obręczowym na czele. Nie znajdziecie tu blichtru i przepychu rodem z turystycznych kurortów.

Madar Ensemble wskrzesza tradycję muzykowania pełnego namysłu i wielowiekowej mądrości, to jakby muzyka z samego rdzenia naszej planety.
Program płyty złożony został wyłącznie z kompozycji członków kwintetu, całość tworzy niezwykłą atmosferę tęsknego piękna, subtelnego dialogu instrumentalistów i egzotycznego oddalenia, z każdej frazy, dźwięku, melodii wyziera doświadczenie, doskonały warsztat i pewność, której przyświeca jasno wyznaczony cel, a jest nim poszukiwanie tego, co prawdziwe, dobre i piękne dla każdego człowieka. Wiele tutaj kontemplacji dźwięku, wyrafinowanych współbrzmień historycznych instrumentów, czułej improwizacji, rozmarzonych fraz kojących zmysły. Muzycy swobodnie płyną na fali czystych emocji i wysmakowanych uniesień.
