In 2019, or just a little while before, with plans to release Andrzej Karałow's first duo album with analogue and modular synthesiser player Jerzy Przezdziecki's, we not only made plans for further collaboration, but also talked about our inspirations. It turned out that I had not caught such an understanding with any other artists for a long time, and although for Przeździecki the inspiration was early industrial and for pianist Karałow minimal music and the sonoristic tradition of classical music, this seemingly difficult to reconcile world of industrial filth and, on the other hand, fidelity to the avant-garde tradition of the 1960s and 1970s, reminded me of an event when, in the 1980s, I discovered, while still immersed in post-industrial and avant-garde rock (Cassiber), an extraordinary album by Zygmunt Krauze: "New Piano Sounds".
That album was released in the early 1970s, but listened to a dozen years later it shook me and made me feel that nothing was the same as before.
The complexity, the uncompromising nature of that music, but also the creative self-awareness of its interpreter was something I was then rather familiar with from the world of musicians such as Chris Cutler, Fred Frith or Irene Schweizer or on the other hands darkness of Dome or Zoviet France.
It wasn't until many years later, watching the television program "Silence and Sound", of which Krauze was the author, that I was able to put together in my head, the styles, concepts and ideas of the music of Krauze's composer contemporaries, and listening to this magical vinyl again became something extremely inspiring.
Another couple of decades later, around 2020, I asked Andrzej Karałow if he would make an album referring to that great work.

W 2019 roku, a właściwie chwilę wcześniej, planując wydanie pierwszego duetu Andrzeja Karałowa z odtwarzaczem syntezatorów analogowych i modułowych Jerzego Przezdzieckiego, nie tylko snuliśmy plany dalszej współpracy, ale też rozmawialiśmy o naszych inspiracjach. Okazało się, że takiego porozumienia z żadnym innym artystą nie załapałem od dawna i choć dla Przeździeckiego inspiracją był wczesny industrial, a dla pianisty Karałowa minimal music i sonorystyczna tradycja muzyki klasycznej, ten pozornie trudny do pogodzenia świat industrialny brud, a z drugiej strony wierność awangardowej tradycji lat 60. i 70., przypomniało mi się wydarzenie, kiedy w latach 80. ), niezwykłą płytę Zygmunta Krauzego: „New Piano Sounds”. Płyta ta ukazała się na początku lat 70., ale przesłuchana kilkanaście lat później wstrząsnęła mną i sprawiła, że poczułam, że nic już nie jest takie samo. Złożoność, bezkompromisowość tej muzyki, ale i twórcza samoświadomość jej interpretatora była czymś, co było mi wówczas raczej znane ze świata muzyków takich jak Chris Cutler, Fred Frith czy Irene Schweizer czy z drugiej strony mrok Dome lub Zoviet France. Dopiero wiele lat później, oglądając program telewizyjny „Cisza i dźwięk”, którego autorem był Krauze, udało mi się poskładać w głowie style, koncepcje i idee muzyki kompozytorów współczesnych Krauzemu , a ponowne słuchanie tego magicznego winylu stało się czymś niezwykle inspirującym. Kolejne kilkadziesiąt lat później, około 2020 roku, zapytałem Andrzeja Karałowa, czy zrobiłby album nawiązujący do tego wielkiego dzieła. Dlaczego on? Cóż, mimo wielu znakomitych pianistów, nikt tak kompleksowo nie łączy różnych muzycznych światów, jak Andrzej Karałow. I nikt spośród znanych mi pianistów, biorąc pod uwagę jego przygotowanie pedagogiczne, zaangażowanie w pracę pedagogiczną i łatwość, z jaką mówi o różnych kompozytorach i o tym, czym jest dla niego ich twórczość (co zawsze jest oznaką samoświadomości, ale z drugiej strony przypomni.......
