A spontaneous fusion of melody and improvisation, tinted crimson. Tuxedo Man is a snapshot in time – one recording session, one afternoon. In that brief window, a duo of masterful musicians crafted a sonic journey filled with subtle guitar landscapes and percussive frenzy. And all of it – in tribute to a remarkable cat.

David Becker, a versatile American guitarist, is best known as the founder of his own David Becker Tribune. Paul Wertico rose to fame as the drummer of the Pat Metheny Group and later made waves among others as a member of legendary polish rock group SBB. When they met in the spring of 2024, it quickly became clear that their musical visions shared a striking kinship. Both David and Paul remain tireless explorers – constantly searching, testing, and experimenting. From Becker’s intriguing guitar textures to Wertico’s prepared drums and unusual percussion instruments, their combined force fuels this mostly improvised album, dedicated to the memory of David Becker’s cat, whose watchful gaze oversaw the entire project. Recorded in a single afternoon, Tuxedo Man became a meaningful chapter in both artists’ rich discographies.

The album is released on CD, with a vinyl edition in the works. It is the latest release from New Sun – the smallest division of GAD Records, focused on new projects.

Duetowi doskonałych muzyków udało się przygotować dźwiękową podróż pełną subtelnych, gitarowych pejzaży i perkusyjnych szaleństw. A wszystko – z ukłonem w stronę niezwykłego kota.

Paul Wertico zdobył popularność jako perkusista Pat Metheny Group, by potem zaistnieć m.in. w składzie polskiego SBB. Gdy spotkali się wiosną 2024 roku, szybko okazało się że ich spojrzenie na muzykę jest w wielu aspektach bardzo podobne. Zarówno David, jak i Paul ciągle szukają, sprawdzają i eksperymentują. Stąd intrygujące, gitarowe faktury tego pierwszego, jak i preparowana perkusja oraz liczne niecodzienne instrumenty perkusyjne drugiego. Ich połączenie stanowi siłę napędową tego w większości improwizowanego albumu, dedykowanego pamięci kota Davida Beckera. Jego spojrzenie czuwało nad całym projektem, który – zrealizowany w jedno popołudnie – stał się ważnym przystankiem w bogatej dyskografii obu wykonawców.

„Tuxedo Man” ukazuje się na płycie CD, w przygotowaniu także wersja winylowa. Album jest kolejnym wydawnictwem labelu New Sun – najmniejszej dywizji GAD Records, skupiającej się na nowych projektach.
