"St. Catherine In Dub", the tenth release by Moll-Selekta is a collection of the best dubs from the Seventies and early Eighties by producer Blackbeard and the backing band

Rodguel "Blackbeard" Sinclair, Tappa Zukie’s brother, was Bunny Lee‘s right hand man for many years and meanwhile owns Tubby’s old studio in Kingston. The Ring Craft Posse never quite achieved the fame of the Aggrovators or the Revolutionaries, although their line-up included Jamaica’s élite session musicians who participated in the making of thousands of songs. Drums: Sly Dunbar and Mickey "Bo" Richards, (also one of Lee Perry’s Upsetters). Bass: Robbie Shakespeare and Lloyd Parks. Keyboards/Organ/Piano: Winston Wright, Ansel Collins, Herbie Harris, Robbie Llynn. Guitar: Willie Lindo, Winston Bopee, Dwight Pickney. Horn-Section: Bobby Ellis, Roland Robinson, Dean Fraser and David Madden.
Ruddy "Jah" Thomas was responsible for the mix, himself a highly successful DJ and producer, along with "Stumpy", nowadays working with Buju Banton. The engineers were Nowell Earn and Michael Riley, the latter a key man in the Dynamics Studio.
"St. Catherine In Dub" is a perfect introduction for the beginner to get familiar with this particular Reggae-genre with its technical excellence, outstanding creativity and innovation.
Dub, basically founded by King Tubby, is without doubt one of the most important musical inventions of the last 35 years, leaving its traces in many following directions up to the Remix-culture. The album is equally interesting for the Dub-experts since it includes a selection of catchy, smoothly flowing Dubs available in this form for the very first time. The opening track "West Bay" is based on Burning Spears one and only chart hit from his Studio One days "Joe Frazier", another, earlier version can be found on Lee Perry’s epic "Blackboard Jungle Dub" album.
