The trilogy is complete; the third CD by Rue Protzer's band "Rue De Paris" following "Quiet Motion" (Sony 2006) and "New York Slow" (Sony 2007) has been completed. Following his tribute to the Big Apple, Rue has returned to Europe. He has not only kept his sidemen and friends from the USA, Marc Johnson and Adam Nussbaum, but also the style that attracted numerous fans. His mixture of artistic dexterity and skill, a fondness for refined, comprehensible melody lines and his completely relaxed interpretation of his own pieces and covers have become a trademark of the band. Despite this, "Trois" is more striking than its predecessors in many ways. On one hand, the choice of the title, which presents two classics of French chanson, among others, in addition to nine of his own compositions: La Javanaise (Serge Gainsbourg) and La Mer (Trenet/Lasry). And for the first time, there is a singer with Cécile Verny. Verny is equally well known in France and Germany, and she understands with her warm voice to make the classic chansons sound authentic and fresh at the same time. Finally, Rue Protzer proves on "Trois" that he is not only a master of gentle sounds, but that he can also play convincingly at faster speeds and in daring solos. But he still manages to maintain the relaxed, basic mood, which also makes his latest CD into a feast for the ears of bon vivants.
Rue Protzer was born in Stuttgart, studied in Nuremberg, and then attended many workshops and master classes as well as took lessons in New York starting in 1999 (among others, from Pat Metheny and Joe Beck). He also became a studio musician much in demand - including for pop music recordings - but his heart is still in his project "Rue de Paris". As with the previous CDs, he invited prominent and recognized experts to the studio for the third album. Wszystko co słyszymy na tej płycie już było. Ballady jazzowe z liderującą gitarą, nacechowane wielką elegancją powściągliwe partie instrumentalne, udane jazzowe interpretacje znanych szlagierów popowych (tutaj Serge'a Gainsourga i Charlesa Treneta ze swingującym głosem Cecile Verny) i w końcu śpiewny liryzm dobrze dobranych kompozycji, własnych i obcych, tak aby całość sprawiała wrażenie jednorodnej, zwartej opowieści.
Coś jednak sprawia, że chce się do niej wracać.
Sugestywność tego romantycznego pejzażu jest skutkiem iście buddyjskiego braku pośpiechu, odnoszę wrażenie, że każdy dźwięk na tej płycie jest dokładnie przemyślany. Instrumentaliści grają jakby leniwie, ale absolutnie perfekcyjnie, muzyka płynąca z głośnika jest różnorodna mimo nieco lekkiej konwencji. I właśnie na tych pozornych sprzecznościach polega urok całej gry ze słuchaczem.
Trzecia juz płyta formacji Rue de Paris z Markiem Johnsonem i Adamem Nussbaumem w składzie nie zaskakuje ale sprawia przyjemność.
