This is The Wreckery album that never was, but always should have been! First in 35 years!

At the height of Australia's post-punk era, The Wreckers played atmospheric rock with a film noir style and a renegade post-punk approach, building a loyal following. Critics quickly hailed them as successors to the dark, exciting Melbourne avant-garde tradition previously pioneered by The Birthday Party.

The team was founded, among others, by Hugo Race, who was also previously a founding member of The Bad Seeds, Nick Cave's band.
The Wreckery's early recordings for Rampant Records (1985-87) featured a fusion of swamp blues, noir-jazz and post-punk. Creative tensions caused the band to explode as they reached their peak with the album Laying Down Law (Citadel Records, 1988). Another great and dangerous rock'n'roll band that became a danger to itself.

35 years later, the new album Fake is Forever delivers on its unfulfilled promises, showing The Wreckery on fire like never before. The DNA is still there - the distinctive sound of Charles Todd's baritone saxophone, the scathing lyrics and vocals of Hugo Race, the distorted, angular guitars of Clayton-Jones, the eclecticism of multi-instrumentalist Robin Casinader, Nick Barker and former Plays With Marionettes drummer Frank Trobbiani make up a solid rhythm section this iconic group.

The sarcastic, provocative and yet dark lyrics of "Smack Me Down", "Get A Name" and "Young People", the musical fury of "Stole it from Alpha Ray" and "Evil Eye", the romantic melodrama of "The Devil in You" and " Whistle Clean”, the demented rock of “Dragonfly” and “Garbage Juice” – The Wreckery covers a wide range of styles.
