Wraz z Robertem Hampsonem (Main) stworzył 3 długie, ciche, ambientowe elektroniczne utwory z intrygującymi dronami i odgłosami. Płyta-rarytas - przez długi czas była niedostępna w TOUCH, teraz pojawiła się ponownie w bardzo małym ograniczonym nakładzie.

Robert is best known for his work with Main and Loop; he also works with Organum, and has done remixes for Mesmer (see Ash International # Ash 1.8CD2), O Yuki Conjugate and This Heat. He has also recorded an album with Bruce Gilbert due soon for a Mute release. Jim is a prolific composer and recording artist who has worked with Derek Bailey, Evan Parker, Henry Kaiser and many more. He has produced albums by faust, Tony Conrad and Melt Banana, and remixed works by main, Oval, Labradford, Tortoise and This Heat. He was a regular member of Brise Glace and Gastr Del Sol.



This CD is the result of a collaboration which took place in 1994. Recorded at Thirst Studios, all the original sounds were taken from field and analogue recordings and other natural sources, and then processed in the studio. In this sense, Whelm is like a field report, in which sounds and characters can be classified. At times the sounds or characters return, demanding a new approachfrom the listener, whose expectations from this work are sometimes met and fulfilled, and at others confounded...you are shown an exploded view and also a detailed close up. The recording shows how music, in fact, never stops, even in silence. Fragmented, non-linear sounds all make an appearance, continually recalling and revoking characters and memories.
