The album features an interesting cast of underground characters who’ve volunteered for the Prefuse chop treatment.
Here's the type of people you can expect to encounter courtesy of Kathryn from Biz 3.
MF Doom. He’s insane. He wears metal masks on stage and has a mouth full of gold. He's incredibly out there and has been for a LONG time. He is working on record with Scott right now through the mail.
Aesop Rock. A young MC from Manhattan. Gravel voiced mad word-spitter. Very witty and plays on words/puns a lot. He put out a track called “Float” on Mush Records that has garnered a lot of critical attention and kids in the underground talk about him a lot. He is now hooked up with Def Jux Recordings (El P of Company Flow's new label) and his album will drop late 2001.
Mikah Nine. Another seminal underground star - part of the legendary West Coast Crew - freestyle fellowship. A pioneer of rap-singing.
Dose One. One of the most wackiest and wonderful poets in the underground - spits lines like a mad auctioneer. He's clever and quick with the wit and his delivery has a song to it and is fast with a nasal twang that is completely recognizable for all time after one listen. He resides in Oakland California, from Cincinnati, he is part of the Anticon crew. He put out a record he did with Boombip on Mush last spring. He currently has a record under the moniker of Cloud Dead on Big Dada. He is wonderful live, a complete character.
Sam Prekop. The loveliest crooner in all of indie-rock. Sam is the lead singer of The Sea & Cake, one of the many Tortoise related projects that features John McEntire. They have just released their new album "Oui" on Thrill Jockey.
