Issued in 1969 by Doctor Bird Records early on the company's Pyramid subsidiary, 'Israelites' came hot on the heels of Desmond Dekker's international smash hit of the same name. Such was the extent of Dekker's global success, the album was licensed to companies around the world, seeing issue on a variety of different imprints and with a diverse array of sleeve designs.
