Amerykański zespół The Locust pluje w twarz konwencjonalnej scenie muzycznej od 1995 roku. Ich utwory są szybkie, gwałtowne i z reguły nie przekraczają jednej minuty. Jeden z dziennikarzy określił The Locust jako „połączenie Devo i Napalm Death”. My charakteryzujemy ich muzykę jako niezwykle wybuchową mieszankę speed metalu / punka / grindcoru.



Aided by Alex Newport's (At The Drive-In, The Melvins, Sepultura) clean, confident production, the record crams 23 songs into just around the same amount of minutes -- piling unpredictable, split-second changes, blasts of 2-second-long space-riffs, and lupine screams onto spazzed-out keyboards that sound totally inhuman and strangely organic. It's nervy and sinuous and, above all else, uncomfortably apocalyptic -- which makes even more sense now, considering the temper of the times when it was recorded.
