No order without chaos. No harmony without cacophony. No 'rest' without 'unrest'. Umru is Yiddish for unrest, for turmoil. It is not as negative as it seems: haste, tension, obsession. But umru can also bring positive tension, usher in the start of a creative process. Expressive words bubbling up from the poet. A new melody welling up inside a musician. Pangs of birth. Umru is part of creating something new. Like the fluttering unrest and shattering eggshell entailed with the hatching of the chick.
Mazzeltov and Rolinha Kross underwent the same kind of creative process in the making of this album. Unrest and passion. Something new had to be made. New music had to be born. For instance, original compositions set to the words of Yiddish poets.
More than ever before Mazzeltov went in search of new inspiration. Further than the Yiddish smash hits from the classic repertoire. And even further than Yiddish adaptations of well-known English, Dutch and French songs as they appeared their next to last album 'Amsterdam' from 2008.
The new album 'Mayn umru' is already Mazzeltov's sixth baby and the fourth for Fréa Records. It can legitimately be regarded as a new chapter in the 15 year history of one of the best klezmer bands in the Netherlands. Never before have so many brand new original works emerged from the eggshell. Fortunately, a few classic traditional and contemporary pearls by other composers have not been overlooked. Let this beautiful unrest get under your skin!

Biography
For more than fifteen years klezmerband Mazzeltov has toured theatres and concert halls, mainly in the Netherlands, but also abroad. The personnel of the group has changed a bit over the years, but the current line-up of six musicians has been together for quite some time now. In this combination, singer Rolinha Kross plays a leading role. With her tender voice and warm personality she takes the band and the audience by the hand, for a journey through the magical world of Yiddish music.

Szósta płyta neoklezmerskiej formacji z Holandii ze swadą prowadzonej przez charyzmatyczną Rolinhę Kross jednocześnie zachowuje i wskrzesza na nowo najpiękniejsze momenty dziedzictwa żydowskiego.
Pełen ekspresji, ciepły alt Rolinhy Kross, głęboki i przejmujący styl śpiewania to znak rozpoznawczy zespołu. Śpiewu uczyła się od matki, dość szybko zaczęła wystepować ze swoja matką tworząc Duo Sense. osobą szczególnie ważną dla Rolinhy był Willy Brill, tłumacz jidish i popularyzator kultury żydowskiej. To on przetłumaczył na jidish wybrane francuskie i holenderskie szlagiery, które weszły na płytę 'Amsterdam', m.in. 'Le port d'Amsterdam' Jacquesa Brela.
Nową płytę wypełniły autorskie transkrypcje tradycyjnych tematów greckich, rumuńskich, zydowskich jak i oryginalne kompozycje członków zespołu do poezji wybitnych poetów takich jak Shmuel Halkin, Ilya Magalnik, Moyshe-Leyb Halpern, Itsik Manger, Joseph Kerler, Moyshe Shkliar.
Sporym atutem jest tutaj piosenka Jacquesa Brela 'L'ivrogne' zaśpiewana tutaj w jidysz jak i wzruszająca pieśń z czasów rozkwitu kultury sefardyjskiej 'Irme Kero' śpiewana w ladino.
Całość rozpisana na głos, klarnet/birbyne, skrzypce, akordeon, gitarę klasyczną i kontrabas urzeka swoją bezpretensjonalnością i pasją wykonania.
