W październiku 2011 kompozytorka Sofia Gubaidulina obchodziła 80 urodziny . Z tej okazji wytwórnia ECM przygotowała album zatytułowany The Canticle of the Sun. Płyta składa sie z dwóch cześci pierwsząz nich jest The Lyre of the Orpheus nagrane w 2006 roku z Gidonem Kremerem jako solista i orkiestrą Kremerata Baltica. Druga częśc to nagranie The Canticle of The Sun zawierające jubileuszową kompozycję – utwór skomponowany z okazji 70. urodzin Mścisława Rostropowicza, które obchodził w 1997 roku. Nagranie odbyło się podczas festiwalu w Lockenhaus w 2010 roku.
