Public Image Ltd can confirm that their first new album in 20 years ‘This Is PiL’ released on May 28th will contain 12 tracks.

The album is self-funded by PiL and will be released on PiL’s own label ‘PiL Official’ via Cargo UK Distribution. All the new material was recorded in the UK last year at Steve Winwood’s studio in the Cotswolds. John Lydon talks about ‘This Is PiL’: “Well, 12 songs, where do I begin? Everything and anything that attracts my attention.

‘One Drop’ is about my early youth in Finsbury Park. Fantastic! Hello, we’re all teenagers don’t you forget it! At any age, stay young. ‘Lollipop Opera’ is basically a beautiful bunch of background noise and music to sum up Britain and all its wonderful ambidextrousness! ‘The Room I Am In’ well that’s about drugs and council flats. And there’s a tragedy that still continues. ‘I Must Be Dreaming’ Well, you know, I must be to put up with these governments. Following on from their monumental live performance at BBC Radio 6 Birthday Celebrations at Queen Elizabeth Hall on Friday March 16th which saw PiL include and baptise 2 new songs: Deeper Water and One Drop, PiL also played 2 very special shows at London’s Heaven showcasing more tracks from the new album with The Times commenting “This was and evening uncompromising art music, worthy of the total concentration of the audience.”

The track One Drop has now also received airplay from BBC Radio 6, XFM and Absolute Radio.

Pierwszy od 20 lat studyjny album Public Image Limited, zespołu prowadzonego od 1978 roku przez Johna Lydona (ex-Sex Pistols). Powszechnie uznawany za jeden z najbardziej innowacyjnych zespołów wszechczasów; Public Image Ltd dzięki swojej wizji i muzyce umieścili w swojej historii pięć singli w Top20 brytyjskiej listy przebojów oraz pięć albumów w podsumowaniach Top20. Ze zmieniającym się personelem przez czas trwania formacji, John Lydon był zawsze jej liderem od pierwszego albumu 'First Issue' z 1978 do 'That What Is Not' z 1992 roku, kiedy to zespół zawiesił działalność na 17 lat. John Lydon – po byciu frontmanem w Sex Pistols, Lydon założyl Public Image Ltd w 1978 roku. Poza PiL John wydał kilka albumów solo oraz we współpracy z innymi muzykami.

Lu Edmonds - multi-instrumentalista oraz były gitarzysta The Damned, Lu dołączył do PiL w 1986 roku, grając na albumie ‘Happy?’ i współtworząc album ‘9’ dodając kolejny wymiar do brzmienia PiL.

Bruce Smith – były perkusista w The Pop Group oraz The Slits, został bębniarzem w PiL również w 1986 roku nagrywając album ‘Happy?’ oraz ‘9’.

Scott Firth – basista/multi-instrumentalista, który grał i współpracował z wieloma uznanymi muzykami i zespołami takimi jak m.in.: Steve Winwood, John Martyn oraz Elvis Costello.
