Cheerful it's not - taking it's cue (unconsciously or otherwise) from Olivier Messaien and dealing with a similar subject, Boris and the lads reflect upon the apocalypse and thereafter. Doomy, wearily romantic with lots of minor keys and dark-toned clarinets, it's the second part of a series which, hopes the leader, stops with this release. Elegiac and resigned, it should probably be avoided if you feel even in in the slightest bit depressed. A CD for those days when, beneath a leaden sky, you clutch your overcoat collar ever tighter and hurry home through the rain-lashed streets, sort-of-vi.......
