Multi-reed player Kyle Bruckmann plays a dozen duets with many of the fine musicians from the Chicago area on And.
Bruckmann is an artist who contrasts textual coloring with volatile explosiveness to enhance the wide range of dynamics his music spans. Through employing symphonic-oriented double reed woodwinds such as the English horn or oboe and alternating with those from exciting realms such as the ancient Chinese suona or the Moroccan raita, he produces a searing sound on the extreme edge of the experimental chart. Bruckmann takes full advantage of the trilling tonality of his horns in setting the table for each of his one-on-one encounters. He plays at times in smoothly flowing lines but more often uses jagged bursts for emphatic emphasis. He often introduces unusual mouthpiece techniques as well to shade the tunes with sonic splendor. The selections are mostly three or four-minute exercises in dual expression, although a couple are more elongated ventures into the world of exotica.
Bruckmann performs three times with percussionist Michael Zerang, who manipulates a plethora of instruments to achieve shrieking, stretched-out, near-abstract rhythms from which Bruckmann pivots deftly. The natural abrasiveness of Zerang's attack merges harmoniously with the shrillness from Bruckmann, making the union a true sonic delight.
Two selections pit Bruckmann with trombonist Jeb Bishop. Bruckmann's acute tone and Bishop's elongated snakes of sound drawn from his trombone form a natural marriage of intrigue. The cuts are slow, dirge-like processionals highlighting the contrasting range of these instruments. Jim Baker joins him on two cuts, using the synthesizer and itscloning capabilities to heighten the mysteriousness that marks the performance. Fellow reed player Scott Rosenberg matches his single-reed contrabass clarinet with Bruckmann's vibrating double reeds in yet another highlight of collective, free improvis.......

Kyle Bruckmann jako oboista, a także muzyk wykorzystujący elektronikę, bardzo szybko znalazł swoje miejsce w eksperymentalnym undergroundzie Chicago. Dobrze wykształcony w konserwatorium miesza dyscyplinę klasycznego przygotowania z poetyką Dada i z punkową energią artystycznych dążeniach. W Chicago mieszka od 1996 roku, uczy, praktykuje jako muzyk klasyczny, a przede wszystkim grywa regularnie z najbardziej kreatywnymi improwizatorami i artystami - Jeb Bishop, Jim Baker, Bhob Rainey, Fred Lonberg-Holm, Bob Marsh, Robbie Hunsinger, Michael Zerang, Guillermo Gregorio, Oivia Block.

Wraz z Ernestem Karelem tworzy elektroakustyczne duo EKG , jest członkiem Rosenberg Skronktet, a także eksperymentalnej punkowej elektrownii LOZEGNE. Bruckmann jest członkiem zespołu kompozytorów Gene Colemana NOAMNESTIA, współpracował z POLWECHSEL, wykonywał utwory takich m.in. kompozytorów jak: George Crumb, John Cage, Charles Ives, Cornelius Cardew, Malcolm Goldstein, Salvatore Sciarrino.

Jego debiutancka solowa płyta "Entymology" wydana przez Barely Auditable Records, została doskonale przyjęta przez krytykę. Jim Baker występował i nagrywał (jako pianista i posługując się syntezatorem) w wielu różnych sytuacjach w które zamieszani byli różni ludzie, niektórzy z nich są obecni na tej płycie inni nie.
